Please find below some of the questions we ask our clients to achieve the quality translation you need.
We need to establish a partnership to understand you, your company, your products, and your market(s). It is also important for you to understand the way we work.
Contact us during the preparation phase: it gives us time to research, to ask questions, to understand terms and concept, to highlight and avoid cultural misunderstandings. It will provide the basis for a document, which translates into other languages.
We need to know the target countries and markets.
We need to know if this is a “one-off” translation or whether it is part of a series. If some translations have already been carried out for the project, we need to see them. We wish to maintain consistency across your documentation.
What is the purpose of the document? Who is going to read it?
We need to establish links with the people in your organisation who will approve the translations so that we know exactly what they expect.
We need to know the format so that we can prevent problems.
We need to know the time-scales.
Special projects:
We also work on very specific, tailor-made projects. For example, a few years ago, an e-commerce company contacted us to translate their website in several European languages. We helped them also with their Internet advertising campaigns. We advised them that it would be probable that some of their clients would need to contact them. Our clients’ problem was that they did not have any in-house linguists and without customer support, they risked losing a lot of business. We designed with them a unique concept, whereby our translators can access their customers’ on line queries, they translate the queries into English. As soon as our client submits the replies to the translated queries, they are translated back into the target language and all within a 24 hour deadline. Their customers are happy in the knowledge that there is somebody who can speak their language.
Another company in the retail industry asked us how we could help them deal with their Scandinavian clients’ telephone enquiries. After a few meetings, a mobile phone was given to one of our Danish, Finnish, Swedish and Norwegian translators, who answer the telephone for our client and transmit the enquiry. They are then briefed by the client and are able to reply to their Scandinavian customers. Even when our translators are on holiday, we offer cover… Since then, an email enquiry service has also been set up to respond to queries
