Top 5 Experiences at French Summer Camp

Well done! You’ve got to the end of term and it’s time to let your hair down in the sunshine. Better still, you’re jetting off to the beautiful Côte d’Azur for a French summer camp to get a few weeks away from your parents nagging you about emptying the dishwasher and pulling your weight over the holidays. Whilst you’re getting on with your chores before your great escape, here are our top 5 experiences to keep you motivated in the run-up to your French language summer camp. Bonnes vacances!

Top 5 Experiences at one of our French Summer Camps

#1: Add new friends to your socials… and your social life

What makes being at summer camp in France such a unique bonding experience?  Every single student at the Summer language school comes from a different country and speaks a different language, meaning every single one of you is in the same boat: during your French course you have to speak French to each other. Choosing a French course with a mix of nationalities offers numerous benefits that enhance the learning experience.
You have to do a French test on the first morning to put you in the right class for your level, so you know you’re on the same playing field as your classmates.
How do you make it work outside the classroom? Go hard or go home. Laugh at your mistakes, praise your peers when they teach you something new, work it out with your new friends and have fun as you make your way through the French language together. When it’s time to say “au revoir”, you know you’ve got friends from all over the world who have shared the same incredible experience as you.

#2: Make a splash in a French Summer Camp

The French Riviera (the “Côte d’Azur”) is famous for being a seaside hotspot for the glitterati, including you! That means your French summer camp is within a stone’s throw of the Mediterranean Sea and all the lazy beach vibes it has to offer.
Our partner French school in Antibes puts on a wide array of afternoon and evening activities that are including in the price of the all-inclusive summer camp experience to make good use of its seaside location. For example, you can spend your morning in French class then your afternoon learning to sail off the coast of the French Riviera or zipping down the water slides on a trip to Aquasplash. Have you ever been to a pool party before? You’re going to this summer, at your summer camp’s very own swimming pool! Pack an extra set of swimwear so you’ve always got something ready if your other set is still wet from living it up in the Med or pool.

#3: Push your boundaries

A trip away is the perfect time to try something new and push your limits. Our partner French school’s activity schedule is jam-packed with exciting things to try out. Who knows, you may well find yourself a brand-new hobby. One of the afternoons is spent at a treetop adventure park, putting your strength, endurance and coordination to the test as you work as a team with your new international friends and boost your self-esteem, working out the best routes to take you back down to terra firma.

#4: Unleash your inner culture vulture

Spread your wings and visit the hottest towns and cities in the French Riviera. Our partnership French school organises half-day and full-day trips to popular nearby tourist destinations so you can soak up the jet-set atmosphere for yourselves. Just take the day trip to nearby Monaco, catch a glimpse of the iconic F1 track, feast your eyes on the famous Casino and climb up the “Rock” to the Prince’s Palace. You may well wander past some of the royal family as you explore the tiny principality, just keep your eyes peeled. One of the half-day trips is to the sunny, seaside city of Nice where you can get a selfie with your friends at the “I ❤️Nice” sign, soak up the sunshine in one of the famous blue deckchairs, pick up some souvenirs in the chocolate-box Vieux Nice, sample some classic socca or head over to Fenocchio’s for some funky-flavoured ice cream… who ordered 2 scoops of cactus?

5# Let off steam and let your hair down!

It’s summer, it’s time to relax and let loose. That’s exactly what a trip to a summer camp is about! Every day there’s some sort of sport so you can let off steam after a morning of French class. Then after dinner, the fun continues until the 10pm curfew! Play your cards right at the casino night, bust some moves at the disco, sing your heart out to your favourite song at karaoke, go for gold at the Olympics night or just relax with a good film and a mound of popcorn at the film night. When 10pm rolls around, you’ll be happy and ready for a good night’s sleep before a new day begins with croissants, pains au chocolat and more French treats for breakfast at 8!

To everyone who’s jetting off for their French summer camp experience in the next few weeks, we hope you have an amazing holiday and we can’t wait to hear from you when you get back.
